An Organization That Cares for People With Disabilities

About LifeROOTS
Rooted in the Community
LifeROOTS (formerly RCI Inc.) is an Albuquerque-based, tax-exempt, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that provides the community with a broad range of programs and services for children and adults with developmental, physical, and behavioral disabilities in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, and surrounding areas. Our innovative programs and services, led by certified, experienced, and professional staff, assist people with disabilities of all ages to reach their highest levels of self-sufficiency.
Founded in 1958, LifeROOTS was the first organization in the state to treat children with polio and cerebral palsy. The center has evolved into a multi-disciplinary provider of programs and services to children and adults with disabilities, including early childhood intervention, therapy, parenting support groups, day habilitation, supported employment, job development, literacy programs, and much more.

In the Decades That LifeROOTS Has Been Serving the Community
We have learned much about people with disabilities. We recognize and honor the qualities that make each of our clients unique. We know each person has the potential to learn and grow, which can lead to a life of independence—and the dignity and self-respect that goes with it.
LifeROOTS serves more than 1,500 disabled clients each year, receiving referrals from parents, guardians, day care centers, regional hospitals, public schools, state agencies, physicians, and a variety of other sources.

Since 1989
LifeROOTS has provided contract services that offer valuable services for commercial and government facilities thus providing employment for people with disabilities. LifeROOTS is a recognized leader in providing contract services to organizations in the areas of custodial and janitorial services, grounds maintenance and keeping, landscaping, packaging and assembly, bulk mailing and sorting, shipping and receiving, presentation preparation, envelope stuffing, warehousing, call center support, and administrative services.
We employ more than 57 individuals providing custodial and janitorial services at Kirtland Air Force Base, the University of New Mexico, and the Pete V. Domenici Federal Courthouse. We also provide groundskeeping/maintenance services to the Workers’ Compensation Building and more. In addition, the agency maintains several commercial contracts with community partners, such as Ethicon Endo-Surgery Inc., a Johnson & Johnson Company, TriCore Laboratories, Supply One Inc., Southern Wine & Spirits, and other businesses throughout the greater Albuquerque metropolitan area.
